Young Captain Program, Young Captain Award and Young Captain Network are initiatives of Young Captain Netherlands. We focus on young business leadership talent in the Netherlands with the potential to grow into the role of CEO. Young leaders, are ambitious, future-oriented and with a clear vision about the connection between company and social issues.
WHAT DOES YOUNG CAPTAIN NEDERLAND OFFER
We do this based on the belief that The Netherlands requires such talents to take business to the next level and believes it is important to encourage these talents and provide support when it comes to reflection on themselves as people and as a leader. Through the initiatives, we also want to make this talent visible and give it appreciation. These are young leaders who show that they are a promise for the future, the next generation of captains of industry from leading companies, and are an example for others.

In 2004, the foundation was laid in collaboration with the Ministry of Economic Affairs & Climate, and the Young Captain Award was presented for the first time in 2005 and every year since then.
The initiatives have developed strongly over the years, deepened, and become an institute. For the participants, completing the Young Captain Program and entering the Young Captain Award competition is a particularly valuable journey of several months, in which gaining insight into themselves and in the boardroom role is essential. Ultimately, the best three candidates become members of the Young Captain Network, a network of people who recognize themselves in each other due to the responsibilities they bear and are aware of the added value they can deliver together to the company and society.
The participants experience participation as a personal 'experience accelerator' in the field of leadership. It is experienced as a great gift to oneself as a leader and as a token of recognition by the company.

Young Captain Program
Participating in the Young Captain Programoffers a unique opportunity for business and personal deepening and development. We do this through a two-day leadership program. The program is led by our academic partner Nyenrode Business University and is completed by our knowledge partners. The program offers a broad view of social and geopolitical topics and introduces participants to the dynamics of the boardroom.
Young Captain Award
The Young Captain Award is a competition, a highly qualified jury assesses the nominated talents and ultimately chooses the Young Captain. This competition is an intense and enriching process. An annual program awaits the finalists with interesting opportunities for further expansion.
Young Captain Network
The winner and finalists will join the interesting and active Young Captain Network. A network of the leaders of today and the future; that, based on connection, meet each other regularly to discuss administrative and relevant themes and to help in everyone's further development.
